Amish life has been a favorite topic of mine most of my life and several trips to Lancaster PA have provided much reference for my paintings. While I have taken 100’s of photos of farms, equipment and Amish working from a great distance close up pictures of Amish violate their beliefs and I formed a plan to get close up images for new compositions. I bought authentic Amish & Mennonite clothing and found a farm in Charleton Ma & Sturbridge MA with permission from the owners to bring models and photograph using family members. It was a beautiful summer day and will provide reference for a lifetime of paintings and allows me to get close up detail and simple tasks of Amish life for more involved paintings.
